Mahindra getting ready to launch 7-8 new vehicles in India


Mahindra & Mahindra, India’s largest utility vehicle manufacturers have extensive plans for the months ahead. The company has announced a host of 7 to 8 new models and facelifts. The first of these, will be in the form of Scorpio facelift, ready to be unveiled at the 2014 Delhi Auto Expo in February.

2014 Scorpio facelift has been spied on test several times recently, implying that it is the closest to launch. It will receive fresh updates both where external makeup and internal comforts are concerned. Sales of Scorpio facelift should commence from June 2014.

Mahindra getting ready to launch 7-8 new models in IndiaInteriors will receive updates on instrument panel with a touchscreen infotainment system. The new Scorpio will also retain its 2.2 liter mHawk turbo diesel engine while power and torque figures could be increased from 120bhp and 290Nm of torque to 140bhp and 330Nm of torque.

Apart from this, a refreshed XUV500 should be making its presence felt in March 2015. Competing with Renault Duster, Nissan Terrano and Ford EcoSport, refreshed XUV500 will receive a new front grille with vertical slats, a new front bumper and bonnet design, while tail lamps have also been revamped displaying a rectangular design.

Over a period of the next 12-18 months, M&M will be introducing the Scorpio facelift in June 2014, the XUV facelift code named W207 by March 2015 and a new Maxximo load carrier and passenger carrier by October 2014. The company will also bring in a new 0.5 tonne mini truck later this year which will compete with Tata Ace Zip.

They are also working on a Ford EcoSport rival, in the form of a compact SUV. New launches will be seen in each segment and all new products will be based on new platforms which are expected to boost company performance considerably. (source)
