The Mahindra Imperio pickup truck has been spied once again ahead of its launch in January 2016. The Imperio is essentially a facelifted Genio mid-premium pickup truck. The front fascia has been given a complete overhaul while the rest of the visual elements remain true to the older workhorse.
Given that difference between the Imperio and Genio are primarily cosmetic, we expect the latter to hang up its boots. The Imperio gets silver accented toothed grille, wraparound headlamp with clear lens indicators, circular foglight housings and prominent bumper air intakes. There are no noticeable design changes to the side and rear fascias.
Interior too have been carried forward from the Genio which in turn borrows it from the Xylo. We can see the familiar steering wheel and instrument console. This particular example appears to be a base variant since it lacks AC vents and audio system.
Based on the Xylo platform, the ladder frame pickup truck is expected to be available in both single cab and double cab variants. The 75 bhp 2.5-litre four-cylinder diesel engine is most likely to be retained, albeit with the inclusion of Eco and Power drive modes. A 5-speed manual gearbox drives the rear wheels. Export-spec variants are expected to be offered with 4×4 system as well.
