Mahindra June 2020 Sales Break Up – Bolero, Scorpio, XUV300 Top 3

Mahindra sales fell 55 percent YoY to 7,959 units in June 2020 while monthly sales noted 112% growth

The impact of the Coronavirus pandemic was seen across the automotive sector in India. Every segment of the auto industry has been negatively affected, from commercial vehicles to passenger vehicles to two wheeler industry. Mahindra suffered a 55 percent de-growth in the past month while the company did quite well when compared to sales in May 2020.

Sales of Mahindra cars in June 2020 stood at 7,959 units, down 55 percent when compared to 17,762 units sold in the same month of the previous year. Despite most of the country being in a lockdown model due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the company managed to do significantly better in the past month when compared to sales of 3,745 units in May 2020. Below is a detailed sales break-up of Mahindra cars for June 2020.

In the company lineup, it was noted that the Mahindra Bolero attracted the most attention of buyers in the country. June 2020 sales stood at 3,292 units, the highest sales compared to that noted by any other model. Sales were at 5,118 units in June 2019 but were at 1,715 units in May 2020 showing a near two fold increase month on month.

On the No 2 spot was Mahindra Scorpio with 2,574 units. Though this was a 16 percent de-growth as compared to 3,071 units sold in June 2019, sales of the Scorpio grew by a massive 261 percent as against 713 units sold in May 2020.

Sales of XUV range

It was also the Mahindra XUV300 that added a total of 1,812 units to the company’s total sales in June 2020. This was a 62 percent decline as compared to 4,769 units sold in June 2019. Sales of the XUV300, however, increased by 44 percent in the past month as against 1,257 units sold in May 2020. Mahindra XUV300 managed to outsell rivals Brezza, Venue, EcoSport and Nexon in May 2020 sales. But in June, it fell behind Brezza, Venue, Nexon.

Speaking about the XUV500 sales, they were down 80 percent as against sales of 1,129 units in June 2019. But sales were up by 542 percent when compared to sales of just 36 units in May 2020. Mahindra also sold 49 units of the KUV100 and 1 unit of the Mahindra Verito in the past month.

Thar, Alturas and Marazzo

0 units of the Mahindra Thar have been sold over the past few months. This is because the Thar has been discontinued. New gen 2020 Mahindra Thar has been spied testing in production ready format. It will be launched by Diwali this year. Alturas sales have also been 0 units. It is yet to be updated to BS6 norms. With SsangYong up for sale, it is unclear if we will get the updated Alturas in India or not.

Sales of Marazzo have also been 0 for some months. The Mahindra Marazzo MPV launched in late 2018 is also set to receive an update with a turbocharged 1.5 liter petrol engine, which will be offered with the BS6 Marazzo.

Mahindra Xylo, of which no sales have been accounted in the past few months, has been discontinued from the company lineup along with the Verito, Verito Vibe and NuvoSport. TUV300 has also registered 0 in sales. It has also been removed from the company website. But the company has plans to update TUV300 and launch BS6 version in the coming months.
