Mahindra officially announced their latest compact SUV, KUV100 at an even last month in Mumbai. At that event, they also shared two photos of the car, one showing its front view, and the other detailing the front quarter. But, nothing about the car’s interiors was mentioned.
Earlier spy shots had suggested Mahindra KUV100 to feature a 3+3 seating layout, similar to that of Datsun Go hatch and Go+ MPV. The latest spy shots reveal Mahindra KUV100’s interior in detail, like never before.
Dashboard of the new Mahindra KUV100 is finished in beige with black piano glossy insert in the centre, extending on to the front doors. The centre console is placed under the centre AC vents and is bordered by silver accents. Inside the rectangular centre console, there are three large knobs for controlling the air condition. The gear lever is also inside this centre console above which the KUV100 logo is embossed. Above this is the infotainment system which features AM/FM, Bluetooth and a 4 inch TFT display. Just under the centre console you can find a 12V socket to charge your phone, and handbrake lever.
Steering wheel is slightly different than the one seen on TUV300. Starting from one side, the silver accent now extends all the way to the circumference of the opposite side. Instrument panel features two circular pods with an MID TFT screen in the centre.
Speaking about the seats, they seem well cushioned and covered in a similar kind of fabric that is seen on TUV300 seats. The centre seat in the front row is foldable, and can be used as arm rest by the driver or front co-passenger. Front seats feature integrated headrests with a gap in between the backrest and headrest, a design which seems to be inspired by the new Mercedes A Class front seats.
Powered by a new range of petrol and diesel engine options called mFalcon, Mahindra KUV100 bookings are already open. Petrol engine is in the form of 1.2 liter 3 cyl generating 82 hp and 114 Nm, while diesel 1.2 liter 3 cyl is rated at 77 hp and 190 Nm torque. Both engines are mated to 5 speed MT. AMT option is expected to be launched at a later stage.
Based on a new platform, the compact sub 4 meter SUV will be manufactured at Mahindra’s world-class facility in Chakan near Pune. It will be offered in four trims and seven colour options. Features on offer include Airbags, ABS, EBD, central locking system, keyless entry, music system with 6 speakers, electric ORVM, and much more.
Once launched, Mahindra KUV100 will compete with the likes of Maruti Swift, Hyundai Grand i10, as it will be launched in a similar price bracket.
