Mahindra KUV100 NXT BS6 launch price Rs 5.54 lakh

In BS6 format, the Mahindra KUV100 NXT comes with only a petrol engine

Amidst the Indian government’s COVID-19 lockdown protocol, Mahindra has silently launched the BS6 KUV100 NXT at a starting price of Rs 5.54 lakh ex-showroom. With BS6 update, Mahindra has discontinued the diesel variants of the ‘micro-SUV’. BS6 emission norms have proved to be a challenge for multiple brands who have had successful BS4-compliant diesel powertrains. In fact, brands such as Maruti Suzuki and Volkswagen (plus the brands coming under the German automotive group) had to ditch their complete diesel line-up for BS6 era.

In Mahindra’s product portfolio, the KUV100 may not be the most desirable but is certainly a different buy. Its compact dimensions and raised floor are perfect for Indian driving conditions while the dashboard-mounted gear lever adds more seating space at the front. In the last few years, we have come across quite a few products with a similar approach. The 2020 Mahindra KUV100 NXT BS6 comes in four trims and their ex-showroom (Delhi) prices are as follows:

  • K2+ (6-seater only) – Rs 5,54,350
  • K4+ – Rs 6,010,811
  • K6+ – Rs 6,53,311
  • K8 – Rs 7,15,717

As mentioned before, the 2020 KUV100 NXT BS6 comes with just a petrol option without any major change in output compared to its BS4 counterpart. The micro-SUV generates 82bhp and 115Nm from its 1.2-litre NA three-cylinder mill. This is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. The previous BS4 1.2-litre three-cylinder diesel engine made 77bhp and 190Nm of torque. It came with a 5-speed manual.

At Auto Expo 2020, Mahindra had launched the all-electric eKUV100 at Rs 8.25 lakh ex-showroom. The EV has a claimed range of 147km on a full charge and is the first of many interesting Mahindra electric products to come in the near future.

The new Mahindra KUV100 NXT BS6 is available in six single-tone colour shades: Fiery Orange, Pearl White, Dazzling Silver, Flamboyant Red, Designer Grey and Midnight Black. Mahindra also offers two dual-tone colour choices: Flamboyant Red + Metallic Black and Dazzling Grey + Metallic Black.

The micro-SUV carries forward the same equipment as its outgoing BS4 model. This includes a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, keyless entry, steering-mounted controls, 15-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, height-adjustable driver seat, etc. In terms of safety, the Mahindra KUV100 NXT gets dual airbags, ABS + EBD, reverse parking sensors, high-speed warning and seat-belt reminder.

Bookings have already opened on Mahindra’s official website for a token amount of Rs 5,000. Deliveries will commence only after the lockdown measures are withdrawn. It currently extends to 3 May 2020.
