Mahindra Marazzo luxury edition by DC Design – To take on Maruti XL6

DC Design has modified a top of the line M8 variant of the Mahindra Marazzo MPV. The modified Marazzo was showcased at the launch event last year. And now, the same is open for bookings on the company site. New detailed photos are also shared.

The idea behind building this modified version of Marazzo was to offer luxury features which are seen in a car that costs Rs 1.5 crore, in a car that costs about Rs 15 lakhs. The project was undertaken by Dilip Chhabria himself.

Starting from the dashboard, the new dash gets faux wooden inserts with leather and chrome accents. There is a thick chrome car that divides the dashboard into two creating a more premium look while the central console is also done up in faux wood.

There is a chunky steering wheel and door pads also in faux wood and seats are also given a makeover with premium faux leather. Stock equipment such as the touchscreen infotainment system and climate controls has not been a part of the modifications.

The Mahindra Marazzo DC Design has new lounge seats in the middle row. The co-driver seat can be electrically adjusted via buttons mounted on the central console while the lounge seats in the middle can also be electronically adjusted. DC Design has installed a special panel for rear seat to be adjusted accord to passenger comforts.

Other cabin comforts include ambient lighting which is adjustable via the same control panel at the rear, added lights on the roof and a mini refrigerator in the middle of the rear seats which can accommodate a few bottles. There are also twin cup holders, electrically operated trays for passengers at the rear and personal entertainment screens along with UBS chargers and 12V sockets which are installed on rear armrests for charging of phones.

DC Design has not made any changes to the engine and the Mahindra Marazzo M8 continues to be powered by the 1.5 liter mHawk turbocharged diesel engine offering 120 bhp peak power and 300 Nm peak torque mated to a manual transmission. The cost of this custom built Mahindra Marazzo is at around Rs.3.5-5.0 lakhs over the stock model which is priced at Rs.13.90 lakhs.

With the launch of Maruti Ertiga XL6 around the corner, Mahindra is marketing the Marazzo DC Edition with even more gusto. Maruti XL6 is a more premium variant of Ertiga, which will rival the Marazzo. It will be retailed via Nexa. Maruti Ertiga is best selling MPV with about 9,000 monthly sales. In comparison, Marazzo sales are at about 1,500 units.
