Mahindra Mojo bookings

Mahindra expects to garner some 200 bookings in time for the launch.

The Mahindra Mojo bookings have commenced for INR 10,000, signalling that the long overdue launch is finally going to happen in a few days. Certain dealers say that first deliveries could commence as early as end-September.

The flagship product by Mahindra’s two wheeler division is aimed at showcasing its technical prowess rather than boosting the ailing sales. The firm has been testing its brand shaper extensively over the past one year.

The 300 cc tourer was subjected to a thorough design overhaul in early 2014. A major reason for the delay can be attributed to Mahindra’s selling of its subsidiary Engines Engineering, an Italian technology firm which played a major role in conceptualization and engine design of the initial Mojo model unveiled nearly half a decade ago. This move has forced Mahindra Two Wheelers Limited (MTWL) to initiate the development process right from scratch once again.

Launch is expected in later part of this month.

The final production version is powered by an in-house developed 300 cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled fuel-injected engine which puts out 27 bhp and 30 Nm of torque. A 6-speed transmission harnesses the power.

The Mojo is equipped with top-spec components such as a sturdy inverted telescopic fork upfront, a mono suspension at the rear, disc brake at both ends, and Pirelli Diablo Rosso tyres. Design features include twin headlamps with eyebro-like LED daytime running lights, ornamental tube beneath the fuel tank, a muscular fuel tank and a small taillight.

Mahindra is hoping to gave 200 bookings for the Mojo at the time of the price announcement which is expected in a two weeks.
