We have learnt that production of market ready version of Mahindra Mojo has commenced on a limited scale at the company’s Pithampur plant in Madhya Pradesh. Production will be ramped up to its full scale towards the middle of July.
Mojo is scheduled to be launched in the first week of August and expect the compact displacement tourer to shipped to dealerships in time for launch. Currently, Mahindra is conducting customer trials in select metro cities (sources of recent spyshots of production-ready models).
Power comes from a 296 cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled fuel-injected engine which is mated to a 6-speed gearbox. Contrary to recent media reports that suggest that the power output will exceed 30 bhp, our intel puts it at 28 bhp. Nevertheless, Mojo should have enough oomph to cruise comfortably at triple digit speeds.
Our reader Hari Pradeep has sent a spyshot of the motorcycle. Visual highlights of the final production version includes 3D Mojo stickers and silver Mahindra badge appliques on the fuel tank, black finished engine, body colored sump guard, golden inverted telescopic fork with matching swing arm, dual-tone seat, twin headlamps with eyebrow-like LED daytime running lights and a small LED taillight.
Mahindra is hoping to use Mojo as a brand shaper which could potentially increase the footfall at the showrooms. With competition from several motorcycles like Honda CBR250, KTM Duke 200, Kawasaki Z250, etc., the tourer is estimated to be priced somewhere between INR 1.5-1.75 lakhs (ex-showroom).
