Mahindra MPV White colour spied in production ready guise – To rival Toyota Innova Crysta

Spyshots of the soon to be launched Mahindra U321 MPV reveal it will be built on the platform similar to XUV 500.

Mahindra and Mahindra, reputed utility vehicle makers, are all set to launch a new MPV in India very soon. Codenamed U321 as on date, the upcoming MPV which is slated for a festive season launch in India, will take on Maruti Ertiga, Toyota Innova, Renault Lodgy, and Honda BR-V.

The model on test appeared to be production ready. It is built on a platform as seen on the Mahindra XUV500 and gets a bold on road stance. The U321 has been conceived at Mahindra North American Technical Center in Michigan and developed at the Mahindra Research Valley near Chennai.

It is the company’s third product to be based on a monocoque chassis following the XUV500 and KUV100. The model on test was noted with a new bonnet design, stylish new grilles and steel rims on the wheels. Mahindra U321 also receives a rear windshield wiper, headlamps with projector units and black bezels, LED DRLs and fog lamps. The rear end was noted with vertically stacked tail lamps.

A long wheelbase results in spacious interiors with features to include a dual tone color scheme, chrome accents on air vents and door handles and a cooled glove box. The base U321 gets manual air conditioning with automatic air conditioning on top end variants. The infotainment system comes with touchscreen navigation and control buttons for audio and cruise control.

Mahindra U321 will most likely be powered by a 2.2 liter diesel engine offering 140 PS power and 320 Nm torque mated to a 6 speed manual and 6 speed automatic transmission.

Where pricing is concerned, one can expect the new MPV to be priced in between the range of Maruti Ertiga and Toyota Innova Crysta – in a price bracket of INR 10-15 lakhs.
