India’s largest UV manufacturer, Mahindra officially announced the launch plans and name of their upcoming new SUV, called NuvoSport. New Mahindra NuvoSport is basically the updated Quanto, which was first launched back in 2012.
Compared to the Quanto, which was basically a chopped Xylo MPV, the NuvoSport is a much better-engineered product. Mahindra claims that it has been built on their new generation platform, resulting in better driving dynamics and safety.
Changes upfront include new headlamp cluster with eyebrow LED DRLs, smaller grille, larger airdam, new foglamps, turn indicators, new alloys, plastic claddings on the side and wheel arches, silver skid plate on lower bumper, new red colour, and blackened taillamps.
Engine options on offer with the sub 4 meter Mahindra NuvoSport compact SUV will be a new petrol engine mHawk 100. From the nomenclature, it is safe to assume that this engine will deliver 100 PS peak power. Diesel engine will continue to be in the form of 1.5 liter mill. Transmission options include 5 MT and AMT (only for petrol engine).
Once launched, Mahindra NuvoSport will sit above the TUV300 in the company line-up. It is expected to compete with the likes of Ford EcoSport. Expect price to be in the range of INR 5.5 lakh to INR 8 lakh. More details will be revealed once the SUV is launched next month.
