Mahindra plans to increase sales with new petrol SUV

Mahindra plans to increase sales with new petrol SUVM&M will be overhauling its product lineup in the next 15 months. This will include updating their existing cars, and launch new products in the compact SUV segment. Mahindra plans S101 compact SUV, a new Quanto facelift and the new generation Bolero as their new launches in the coming months, all of which are expected to be in the sub-4 meter category. A new petrol engine is also being developed alongside in order to power these new compact SUVs. This petrol engine will help them gain an edge where sales are concerned, especially considering the narrowing gap between prices of petrol and diesel.

Out of the host of upcoming SUVs being planned, Mahindra S101 compact SUV will be the first to enter markets and has been on test at a number of locations across India. It will be based on a monocoque platform with petrol and diesel engine options and will compete with Ford EcoSport and Renault Duster.

The new Quanto facelift is code named U215 as on date and will see new exterior updates along with added features so as to make the Quanto more of a success as compared to its earlier counterpart launched in 2013 which failed to attract a fair share of buyers due to its boxy stance. M&M will also be giving the Bolero a makeover and the new generation model is codenamed U301 which is slated to get a Jeep Wrangler like design.

As far as updating existing range, Mahindra plans to launch Scorpio facelift on 25th Sep, while the company is also working on hybrid versions of XUV500, Quanto and an updated Xylo. Speaking about price hike this festive season, no decision on price hike during the upcoming festive season have yet been taken. The company has confirmed that commodity prices have remained stable while the company is optimistic about the government extending excise duty cuts on cars to the next budget.
