Mahindra has announced that their recently launched compact SUV, Quanto has received a record 5,000 bookings in less than three weeks. Mahindra Quanto SUV was launched in India last month with a base price tag of Rs 5.82 lakhs, ex-showroom, Thane. Apart from this, Mahindra will also be starting to export their small SUV, to auto markets of Chile, South Africa and Europe. Mahindra XUV500 was recently launched in Italy and it is expected that Quanto too will follow. It will take approximately four to five months before export details are in place to ship the Mahindra Quanto to Italy after which it will be seen in other European countries as well.
At the launch, Mahindra stated that they have a production capacity of 2,500 Quantos per month, which will be produced from their plant in Nashik, Maharashtra, on an assembly line from which the Mahindra Xylo is also produced. 7,000 units per month of these two models roll off this assembly line which will be further augmented to cater to exports to Italy.
Mahindra Quanto will compete against Dacia Duster in European markets. The vehicle is scheduled to commence sales in Italy by end of 2012. This compact SUV is also expected to be displayed at the Bologna Motor Show later this year. Mahindra Quanto possesses a 1.5 liter 3 cylinder diesel engine which is the smallest diesel motor to feature in a twin turbocharger.

Bookings for Quanto had opened across India from September 21, 2012.
The buzz associated with this launch on social media has been extraordinary. Mahindra became a favorite on Twitter, trending at No. 2 position with the Mahindra Quanto following closely at No. 4. The Quanto website had over 2 million page views in less than a week. And in a first ever for any Mahindra brand, Quanto became the No. 1 search on Google within 2 days of launch. The Quanto print campaign was launched nationally on 28 September, 2012, followed by the airing of the new TVC from 5 October, 2012.
