On August 1, Mahindra Racing Formula E team announced a contest under #DrivenbyDesign title, asking its fans to come up with liveries for third edition of its electric single seat race car.
The Indian outfit has released the top 14 entries of the contest already and will announce the winner on August 22. The shortlist was prepared with the help of the Italian design house Pininfarina which is now under Mahindra’s umbrella.
The winning livery will be adopted by the Mahindra M3Electro race car which will enter the third season of Formula E championship. The first round is set to take place in Hong Kong on October 9.
Mahindra Racing has confirmed that Nick Heidfeld will continue to drive for the team but his teammate has not been confirmed yet. Heidfeld scored Mahindra’s first Formula E podium at the second season’s first race in Beijing. His teammate Bruno Senna finished second at the first of the two races in London (season finale).
Mahindra Racing would be gunning for its first victory in the third season which involves 14 rounds and a lot of new venues. The cars also will feature significant changes, thanks to the new rules.
Earlier this year, Mahindra Racing asked its fans to come up with a layout of a street circuit for a possible New Delhi ePrix. We hope an Indian Formula E race becomes a reality in the fourth season.
