Mahindra Racing wins 2012 125 GP Italian Championships: Riccardo Moretti takes top points at Mugello Circuit

The 125 GP Italian Championships Season Opening held on Sunday resulted in a historic win for Mahindra Racing.  An excellent start by Italian rider Riccardo Moretti who started the race at pole was thrilling and going on to finish the race on a winning note was great for the racer who crossed finish line way ahead of rest of the racers on the circuit.

This victory ensured that Mahindra racing became the first Indian team to win season opening 125 GP Italian Championships. Once Moretti started the race he did not need to check his mirrors as he was over a second and a half ahead of Mantovani who was in second place. Mahindra Racing team was anxious for Moretti and any concerns about his performance since he was returning to racing after a gap of three years during faded soon. In the interim period, Riccardo Moretti took part in only three events in World Moto3 championships.

At the Mugello Circuit, Sarath Kumar of Mahindra Racing faced a technical problem and was forced into an early retirement. Mahindra Racing is now getting ready for the next event to be held in Imola.
