Mahindra S101 compact SUV was caught testing in and around Chennai several times. But all the time, the test mules were snapped wearing interim head and tail light clusters as the production models weren’t probably ready. This time, the prototype spied in Bangalore, reveals Mahindra S101 LED tail lamps, giving away the shape and size of it through the cutouts on the cloak.
Mahindra S101 takes inspirations from XUV 500 and new Scorpio, to offer the same kind of feel and satisfaction of owning any other Mahindra SUV. The instrument cluster and LCD Multi Function Display in S101 are known to be similar to the package in Mahindra Scorpio VLX, while staring wheel resembles XUV 500’s. Dashboard is rather plain, for now, and there is no centre tunnel. Gear lever sprouts from the centre console and front bench could legally allow three people to sit, including driver.
Price of Mahindra S101 is also a major concern for the Indian automaker. Sources mention that the target was sub Rs. 4 lakhs, but due to the hike in excise duty, starting price would be close to Rs. 4.10 lakhs (ex-showroom).
