BMW 530i Sport launch price Rs 55.40 lakh – Rivals new Audi A6

The BMW 530i Sport BS6 launch-price stands at Rs 55.40 lakh ex-showroom.

German luxury carmaker, BMW has launched the new 530i Sport sedan in India at Rs 55.4 lakh ex-showroom. BMW India has also introduced new service packages starting at Rs 17,300 per year. The new BMW 530i Sport BS6 is produced locally at the company plant in Chennai and comes in with the brand’s latest technologies.

The list of technologies includes the BMW Display Key which permits drivers to be in contact with their car around the clock. On the other hand, BMW Gesture Control recognizes six pre-determined hand movements for controlling a host of functions. In terms of convenience in parking and manoeuvring, the BMW 530i Sport gets Parking Assistant and Rear View Camera with Park Distance Control.

The exteriors of the new BMW 530i Sport, which is currently the base variant of the 5 Series line-up, is offered in a range of colour options such as Mineral White, Black Sapphire, Mediterranean Blue and Bluestone Metallic. The exteriors see several chrome and gloss black accents, around the kidney grille and the bumpers while the mid-size luxury sedan sits on 17-inch alloy wheels.

The interiors are finished in quality upholstery with Sensatec offered as standard. The dashboard gets a shade of Canberra Beige and Black. On the inside, the BMW 530i Sport gets features such as a 12.3-inch MID, 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, BMW Apps, sunroof, powered front seats, ambient lighting with six colours and dual-zone climate control.

The 530i Sport is also loaded with safety features such as six airbags, hill descent control (HDC), cornering brake control, side-impact protection, active park distance control and ABS. The sedan’s adaptive headlamps, along with BMW Selective Beam, allows for concentrated gaze onto the road with a range of up to 500 meters.

The BMW 530i Sport is powered by a BS6-compliant 2.0-litre, 4 cylinder petrol engine that makes 252bhp at 5,200rpm and 350Nm of torque at 1,450-4,800rpm. The engine is mated to a ZF 8-speed gearbox that sends the power to the rear wheels in proper BMW fashion. The powertrain allows for an acceleration from 0 to 100kmph in 6.1 seconds. The driver can choose between four driving modes: Eco Pro, Sport, Sport+ and Comfort.

The BMW 5 Series range, which comprises of the 530i Sport, 520d Luxury Line, 530i M-Sport and 530d M-Sport, competes with luxury sedans such as the Mercedes-Benz E-Class, Jaguar XF, Audi A6 and Volvo S90. To an extent, the top-of-the-line BMW 530d can be considered as a much more practical alternative to the M5.
