Pragoti Industries Limited (PIL), an enterprise of Bangladesh Steel and Engineering Corporation entered into an agreement with Mahindra and Mahindra, leading SUV makers in India in October 2015. The three year deal is for assembling and marketing of Mahindra Scorpio S10 and Scorpio Pik-Up Double Cab while the new assembly line has just been rolled out.

PIL has entered into a similar agreement with Mahindra and Mahindra for assembly of 2 SUVs of the company, which would be a better and more economically viable option for government departments noting the durability and comfort offered by Mahindra SUVs.

PIL will be assembling 2200 units of each of the Mahindra and Mahindra Scorpio S10 and Scorpio Pik-Up Double Cab SUVs which will be priced at Tk 46 lakh (INR 39.34 lakh) and Tk 31.50 lakh (INR 26.94 lakh) respectively. Each of these models will be offered with a 1 year warranty period with sales directed at government officials and security personnel in the country.

Capable of tackling the rough and rugged terrain of the region, PIL will be importing parts for the assembly of these vehicles from Mahindra in India. PIL aims to sell 100 to 150 units per annum. The PIL plant in Sitakunda Upazila has the capacity to assemble 3 such SUVs per day while after sales service will be offered through Rancon Industries.
