For the fourth consecutive year, sales of Mahindra Scorpio have crossed the 50,000 mark. But, compared to the previous three years’ 50k barrier breach milestones, the latest one is more special. For fiscal 2014/15, Mahindra has sold 51,553 units of Scorpio, which is the highest ever sales of the Mahindra SUV in its history.
This boost in sales is thanks to the launch of new generation Scorpio, which happened in September 2014. Winner of ‘SUV of the Year’, in the period since launch, Scorpio also attained its highest every monthly sales of 6,060 units.
Speaking about the latest milestone of Scorpio, Pravin Shah, President & Chief Executive (Automotive), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., said, that the entire Mahindra family is proud of Scorpio, their trend-setter SUV. Not only this milestone proves the success of Scorpio, even after 13 years of launch, but also the trust car buyers in India have for Mahindra as a brand. With the launch of new generation Scorpio, Mahindra is certain to achieve many more milestones, he added.
Launched at a price range of Rs 7.98 lakhs to Rs 11.46 lakhs, new Mahindra Scorpio is offered in a choice of two diesle engines. One is a 2.5l mEagle generating 75 bhp power and 200 Nm torque, while the other is a 2.2l mHawk mill, generating 120 bhp power and 280 Nm torque.
