2017 Mahindra Thar by DC Design revealed in sketches – Launch soon
The rear fascia gets completely reworked to include wraparound windshield.
DC Design has teased its customized 2017 Mahindra Thar through a couple of sketches ahead of the actual vehicle’s impending unveil. Mahindra’s capable off-roader has carved a niche for itself among SUV enthusiasts and more often than not, its owners opt for heavy customization.
Going by the sketches, DC Design seems to have come up with an interesting set of add-ons to the new Thar. For starters, the front fascia receives a massive black plastic bumper with integrated hexagonal bull bar. The simple turn indicators have been done away with to accommodate LED units while the plastic wheel arch extensions enhance the off-roader’s width.
Like most DC Design projects, we can see extensive redesign of the bodywork. Everything aft the front doors has gone under the knife. The new grey hardtop roof houses several scoops and a pair of spotlights. Customized Thar is characterized by a Toyota FJ Cruiser-like rear fascia with a prominent spare wheel, wraparound windshield, LED taillights and a large black plastic bumper.
Though DC hasn’t revealed the interiors, it’s reasonable to assume that there is gonna be significant customization. Expect additional features that are targeted at off-road enthusiasts.
Mahindra Thar is available with a choice of two diesel engines. The entry-level 2.5-litre M2DiCR unit produces 63 bhp and 195 Nm of torque while the range-topping 2.5-litre CRDe mill which is capable of 105 bhp and 247 Nm of torque. The SUV can be had with 4×4 system while a 5-speed manual transmission is standard across the range.
