Mahindra Thar Daybreak Edition with Hard Top unveiled at Surat Auto Expo

Mahindra and Mahindra, leading SUV makers in the country has launched the much-awaited Thar Daybreak edition at the ongoing Surat Auto Expo. You can buy a brand new Thar Daybreak Edition for prices starting from INR 19 lakh, ex-showroom for the soft top version and INR 20 lakh, ex-showroom for the hard top version. If you are a Mahindra Thar owner, and are interested in buying, you can opt for the Daybreak customization pack for just INR 9.6 lakh. If you want a hard top version, add INR 1.5 lakh to the respective prices.

Heavily customized Mahindra Thar Daybreak Edition first enthralled audience at 2016 Auto Expo and is now on display at the Surat Auto Show. All customization is done in-house at Mahindra Customization Division. Once ordered, delivery is promised to the buyer within a period two months.

Basically a modified Mahindra from the company owned customization company called Mahindra Customization, Thar DayBreak Edition receives a host of modifications, making it fit for the most challenging of road conditions. In the front, a modified grille, head lamps and white LED rings are evident while a bull bar pointed upwards demonstrates the capabilities of the modified Thar.

Modifications

Customization offered on board Mahindra Thar Daybreak Edition include matte grey exterior finish, 37” Maxxis Trepador tyres, heavy duty winch, and off road bumpers. Buyers also get projector headlamps, wider bonnet and auxiliary lights along with LED tail lamps and air scoops on the bonnet. Where interiors are concerned, customization options include Sparco bucket seats, waterproof speakers and dual tone finish.

The bonnet of Mahindra Thar DayBreak Edition was noted with air scoops while orange highlights on fenders and bonnet contrast with the light grey exterior of the model. Doors have also been modified and are seen in a new shape with black / orange highlights on lower portion. Twin exhausts, spare wheel and tyre along with tail lamps with LEDs are seen at the rear.

Engine

No tweaking to engine is on offer so as to avoid constraints with registration and insurance processes. Mahindra Thar CRDe hence continues to be powered by a 2.5 liter engine offering 105 bhp power at 3,800 rpm and 247 Nm torque between 1,800-2,000 rpm mated to a 5 speed manual transmission.

Anand Mahindra, Chairman and MD of Mahindra and Mahindra last year announced a reward for Indian wrestler Sakshi Malik who made the country proud at the 2016 Rio Olympics. She will be presented with the customized Mahindra Thar Daybreak Edition though level of customization has not yet been announced.
