28 Jan 2015 – Looks like Mahindra Thar facelift has been quietly launched, or the vehicles are being sent to dealerships to open sale in a few days.
The SUV is currently available in three variants – entry-level Thar DI 2WD, mid-level Thar DI 4WD and top-end Thar CRDe 4×4 AC, priced at Rs.4.82 lakhs, Rs. 5.30 lakhs and Rs. 7.69 lakhs respectively (ex-showroom New Delhi).
Powertrain options in 2014 Mahindra Thar, which will most likely be offered unaltered in the new facelift version, include 2,523 cc diesel engine for first two variants and 2,498 cc diesel mill for high-end model. Former motor produces 63 bhp max power @ 3,800 rpm and 182.5 Nm peak torque @ 1,500 rpm, while latter churns out 105 bhp @ 3,800 rpm and 247 Nm @ 1,800 rpm. Both engines get 5-speed manual transmission.
The seven-seater with manual steering would continue to be available in five body colours, including Fiery black, Red Rage, Mist Silver, Rocky Beige and Diamond White.
