Car customization specialists, Mumbai based, SP Custom Design, have taken the Mahindra Thar and transformed it into a Hummer lookalike. The accompanying video details this new Thar turned GM Hummer and the steps taken the transform the same by the customization specialists over a period of 2 months.
Modifications carried out include a new front grille, front bumpers and an underbody skid plate. The Thar also gets fitted with flared wheel arches giving it a more commanding stance akin to that seen on the GM Hummer.
A sloping roofline, LED tail lamps and a rear mounted spare wheel also complete the exterior updates to give the Mahindra Thar a completely new stance. Interiors have also been modified with existing seating stripped to include new front facing rear seats. Seating is upholstered in leather with a diamond stitching design extending to door panels while seats are made more comfortable.
In terms of features, the interiors get a touch sensitive infotainment system. There is a gyroscope allowing for tilt and rake of the vehicle while added dials are positioned on co-passengers handlebar that includes an engine temperature gauge, clock and humidity meter.
Other dials include oil temperature gauge and an amp meter and a dashcam records all that takes place in front of the vehicle. The aftermarket specialists have also fitted a rear view camera to the Mahindra Thar turned Hummer which has been integrated into the rear view mirror while the soft top can be closed with electric blinds during the peak summer months.
No engine modifications are seen on the Mahindra Thar turned Hummer which continues to be powered by the same 2.5 liter CRDe engine offering 105 bhp power and 247 Nm torque mated to a 5 speed manual transmission. The customization costs INR 5.5 lakhs (plus the donor vehicle).
