Mahindra and Toyota India car sales report – February 2017

Toyota Kirloskar Motors has registered a 12% increase in sales in February 2017. The new Fortuner saw sales to the extent of 2027 units in February 2017 making it the first time it has reached such a record since it was launched in India in 2009.

Total domestic sales of Toyota Kirloskar Motors stood at 11,543 units while exports of the Etios series were to the extent of 570 units. This was against 10,312 units domestic sales and 903 units exported in February 2016.

Toyota Fortuner and Crysta have both noted outstanding performance. Fortuner has captured over 70% share in its segment. 2,027 units were sold in February 2017 while 8,200 units were sold in the past four months. Innova Crysta sales have crossed the 67,500 unit mark since launch last year while the company now looks ahead to note increased sales of the new Prius and Camry Hybrid launched last month.

Mahindra Sales Report

Mahindra & Mahindra noted a 13% fall in sales during February 2017. The company sold 42,714 units in the past month as compared to 44,002 units sold in February 2016.

Passenger vehicle sales, which included UVs cars and vans stood at 20,605 units in 2017 as compared to 23,718 units sold in the same month of the previous year. Commercial vehicle sales increased by 18% with 16,383 units sold in February 2017 as against 13,863 units sold in February 2016. Combined sales, taking into account passenger and commercial vehicles and 3 wheelers stood at 40,414 units in February 2017, a decline of 2% as compared to sales in the same month of the previous year.

Exports for February 2017 stood at 2,300 units while exports of MHCVs increased 49% to 716 units during the past month as compared to 479 units exported in February 2016. Below is the detailed report.
