The new variant is likely to be launched later this month.
The Mahindra TUV300 100 bhp variant is all set to be launched soon. The more powerful version is aimed at better equipping the sub-4m ladder frame SUV to fend off the Ford EcoSport.
The 100 bhp/240 Nm version of the 1.5-litre three-cylinder diesel engine with twin-stage turbocharger will be borrowed from the newly launched Nuvosport. Both SUV’s are technically pretty identical to each other, so it all boils down to the customers’ tastes. Like the Nuvosport, the TUV300 100 bhp variant is expected to offer Power and Eco driving modes.
The current version of the TUV300 has 84 bhp on tap.
A 5-speed manual transmission will be standard but we can also expect the 5-speed AMT (Automated Manual Transmission) to be offered. The more powerful TUV is expected to have same ARAI mileage rating as the NuvoSport (17.45 kmpl).
The current variants of the TUV300 are powered by the 1.5-litre mHawk 80 engine which dishes out 84 bhp and 230 Nm of torque. Both manual gearbox and AMT are available.
The more powerful version of the TUV300 will share its engine with the NuvoSport.
Mahindra has been betting big on the sub-4 metre SUV segment. In addition to the TUV300 and NuvoSport (the Quanto is phased out), the UV specialist is also said to be working on a third derivative of the same platform which is known in the media circles as the ‘Mini Bolero’.
