Mahindra TUV300 sales expectation even higher than XUV500, Scorpio and Bolero

Mahindra TUV300 sales expectation

Mahindra’s sub-4 metre ladder frame SUV has international aspirations.

Mahindra TUV300 which is slated to be launched in mid September will be carrying huge responsibility on its shoulders. Rushlane has learnt that the compact SUV’s internal sales expectation is higher than any of the other models in the┬ácompany’s┬áhistory.

Mahindra TUV300 sales expectation

Mahindra TUV300 sales performance is excepted to improve the UV specialist’s bottom line significantly.

Based on an all-new platform, TUV300 (Tough Utility Vehicle three double-O) is designed to appeal for customers who look for imposing road presence but a compact foot print. The design was penned at Mahindra’s Kandivili studio under the leadership of design boss Krupa with inputs from Pininfarina.

Mahindra has announced that the SUV will be powered by new mHawk80 diesel engine. Our sources say that it is a 1.5-litre three-cylinder unit but has got almost nothing in common with Quanto’s mCR100 unit. Power and torque details are not available as of yet but 80 in the nomenclature is most likely to denote power output in bhp.

The in-house design has Pininfarina inputs.

Coming back to its sales expectation, the company is bullish about TUV300’s market response in domestic as well as international markets. At the logo and name unveiling event last week, the company confirmed that exports to several countries will commence in a year’s time and several international-spec variants including an LHD version is currently under works.

With an estimated price of INR 6.5 to 8 lakhs (ex-showroom), Mahindra TUV300 is an SUV to watch out this festive season.
