A new Mahindra MUV test mule has been making test runs for quite some time now. The same car has been spied once again, and this time more angles have been revealed, including interiors. The car you see in the images, is most likely to be christened as the TUV500. With road testing commenced, expected launch could be towards the end of 2017 or early 2018
Spied on test, the Mahindra TUV500 is seen to borrow a host of exterior and interior features from the existing TUV300. Unlike the TUV300, which is a compact sub 4 meter SUV, the TUV500 is a long wheelbase SUV which will offer three rows seating.
Spied testing on Indian roads, the Mahindra TUV500 is seen with boxy stying and features similar to those seen on the TUV300 while differences lie in the extended rear overhangs and fixed window in third row. Designed borrowing inspiration from a Battle Tank, the TUV500 receives raised shoulder lines, a flat roof and high ground clearance while it gets a new front grille design with chrome accents, square shaped wheel arches and a rear mounted spare wheel.
Interiors could sport a dual tone in black and beige while central console will be finished with a piano black theme along with forward facing third row seats. A multi info display and multi function steering wheel could also be a part of its interior features.
Where engine specifications are concerned, the TUV500 could share the same with its TUV300 counterpart. It will get a 1.5 liter mHawk80 diesel engine offering 100 bhp peak power at 3,750 rpm and 240 Nm torque at 1,600 to 2,800 rpm mated to a 5 speed manual or 5 speed autoSHIFT AMT.
The new Mahindra SUV could be pitted against Honda BRV upon launch. Expect a price range of INR 8-13 lakh.
