The Mahindra XUV100 (tentative name of the sub-4 m crossover codenamed S101) has been spied once again. Although fully camouflaged, the test mule appears to be closer to production than before.
The recent spyshots reveal C-pillar-mounted rear door handles a la Chevrolet Beat. Other design elements that can be deciphered from the prototype are rear bumper with what appear to be pseudo air intakes, wraparound taillights, rear roof spoiler, chrome highlight for the greenhouse and an alloy wheel-like design for the hubcaps.
Earlier spyshots revealed a fresh dashboard design with all-black color theme, silver accents and dashboard-mounted gear lever. The mini crossover would be aiming to lure hatchback buyers with its higher ride height and a spacious cabin.
The Indian UV specialist’s second crossover will be powered by new petrol and diesel engines, both displacing 1.2-litre. An AMT (Automated Manual Transmission) is likely to be in the mix alongside a standard 5-speed MT right from the launch which is expected later this year.
With an estimated starting price of INR 4 lakhs (ex-showroom), the Mahindra XUV100 would go head on against the hatchbacks like the Maruti Swift, new Ford Figo, Tata Bolt and Hyundai Grand i10.
