Mahindra XUV300 launch price range Rs 8 to 12 L – Bookings open, 3 variants

Mahindra has created several successful models such as Scorpio, XUV500, Marazzo, etc., but it is yet to make its presence felt in the compact SUV segment. They launched a few cars in the compact SUV space – TUV300, Quanto, KUV100; but none managed to get the kind of attention or sales Mahindra would have hoped for.

They are once again going to attempt the launch of a sub 4 meter SUV – this time in the form of XUV300, which is based on the SsangYong Tivoli platform. As the stakes are high, XUV300 comes with a head turning design, class defining interiors, fun-to-drive performance and best-in-class safety features.

While Mahindra revealed its newest compact SUV entrant at the end of 2018 to be XUV300, a lot has been learned about the vehicle since. This has largely been possible owing to the multitude of spyshots that have been captured. Today, more official details about the XUV300 have been revealed by Mahindra. XUV300 bookings have been opened across India via online as well as dealers. It will be offered with petrol 1.2L 200 Nm and diesel 1.5L 300 Nm engine options. Power output is not revealed, but is expected to be about 125 hp for both.

Offers Best-in-Class safety with 7 Airbags & first-in-class hi-tech features such as Dual-Zone Fully Automatic Climate Control and Front Parking Sensors. To be available in 3 variants (W4, W6 & W8 )and 1 optional pack W8 (O). Features like Airbags, ABS, Disc Brakes on all four wheels, 6 Speed Transmission, LED tail lamps, all 4 Power windows, etc., will be standard across all variants.

Veejay Ram Nakra, Chief of Sales & Marketing, M&M Ltd. said “The XUV300 is a very exciting & comprehensive package that will compete with SUVs in the Rs. 8-12 Lakh (ex-showroom) price range. The XUV300 promises not just the most fun-to-drive performance in the segment, but also first-in-class hi-tech features & best-in-class safety. Its 7 airbags are the highest number offered on any 5-seater, not just in the Compact SUV segment, but also in the mid-size sedan segment. Segment-first features such as Dual-zone Fully Automatic Climate Control and Front Parking Sensors are thoughtful new features keeping consumer expectations in mind. We are certain that the XUV300 will help us redefine the growing Compact SUV segment in India.”

As revealed by Mahindra, the launch price range of XUV300 is Rs 8 lakhs to Rs 12 lakhs ex-showroom. This means that the base petrol variant will not be priced below Rs 8 lakhs and the top end diesel variant will not be priced over 12 lakhs. This makes the Mahindra XUV300 more expensive than rivals Tata Nexon and Maruti Brezza. But considering the amount of features on offer, the price seems justified. More details can only be revealed once the car is officially launched.
