Mahindra XUV300 new grille, alloys spied before launch – To take on Maruti Brezza

Mahindra will soon to launch the new 5 seater compact SUV, which is codenamed S201 as of today. Referred to as the XUV300 or baby XUV500, the official name revealing ceremony has been scheduled for 1st December 2018.

The S201 has been spied testing across the country over the last few months. It has been even taken on the highest motorable roads in the world at Khardung La in Leh, Ladakh. The SUV was recently spied by Dr. Susheel Shukla who was on his way to Chandigarh. The latest images reveal the SUV in production ready guise. It shows the trademark Mahindra grille for the first time.

Exteriors of the S201 (XUV300) have been noted with a rugged design with a Mahindra’s signature grille, massive alloy wheels and LED tail lamps. It will also borrow design features from the Tivoli and XUV500. In the front it has projector headlamps with LED DRLs. On the side there are flared wheel arches and wing mirrors.

Interiors of the compact SUV will get several segment first features such as dual zone climate control, a sunroof, touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, rain sensing wipers and comfortable seating for upto 5 adults. In terms of safety, the XUV300 will get disc brakes on all 4 wheels, brake assist, speed warning, ABS and EBD.

Mahindra XUV300 will get its power via a 1.5 liter, 4 cylinder diesel engine which also powers the Marazzo. This engine offers 123 PS power at 3,500 rpm and 300 Nm torque at 1,750-2,500 rpm and gets mated to a 6 speed manual and AMT transmission making it the most powerful compact SUV in India. This engine could return around 21 kmpl fuel efficiency on the new XUV300.

A new petrol engine will also be on offer. In terms of pricing, the XUV300 could be priced competitively between Rs 6.5-11 lakhs in its direct competition against Tata Nexon, Maruti Brezza.
