Mahindra XUV300 spied – Compare size with Maruti Alto, Toyota Innova Crysta

Following the successful launch of the Mahindra Marazzo and Alturas, Mahindra is now gearing up for launch of the XUV300 – codenamed S201 as on date. It is not sure if it will be called the XUV300 on launch, as the company was to reveal its name on 1st December but postponed the event due to unforeseen circumstances.

The compact SUV has been spied on test once again. This time, the car has been spied along side a Maruti 800 as well as a Toyota Innova Crysta – giving a brief idea about the dimensions of the upcoming Mahindra XUV300.

New Mahindra SUV will come with 7 segment first features. These features are also seen on the SsangYong Tivoli, which is on sale in the international market. These include Auto Dimming IRVMs, Rear Disc Brakes, Powerful Engine Lineup, 7 Airbags, Panoramic Sun Roof, Cruise Control and Dual Zone AC.

Mahindra XUV300 sports a monocoque chassis. Its front end features and design are similar to that seen on the Tivoli but include its distinctive badge and grille design. The XUV300 gets projector headlamps with LED DRLs, LED tail lamps, a raked windscreen at the rear and sits on 17” alloy wheels.

Its interiors see a black and beige color scheme with a large sunroof, large touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth controls along with USB and AUX connectivity, automatic dual zone climate control and leather seating.

To comply with new Bharat New Vehicle Safety Assessment Program (BNVSAP) norms, the XUV300 will receive twin airbags, ABS, EBD, reverse parking sensors, speed alerts, seat belt reminder and ISOFIX child seat mounts. These safety features will be on offer as standard across all variants.

Engine specifications of the Mahindra S201 (XUV300) could include a 1.2 liter turbocharged petrol engine expected to make 120 bhp power while the 1.5 liter, 4 cylinder diesel engine will be capable of 123 PS power at 3,500 rpm and 300 Nm torque at 1,750-2,500 rpm. The engines will get mated to a 6 speed manual and AMT transmission sending power to front wheels.

It has not yet been confirmed whether AMT option will be offered right from launch. Prices are expected to commence from around Rs.7 lakhs for the base model going up to Rs.11 lakhs for the top end variant. The XUV300 will compete with the Maruti Brezza and Tata Nexon.
