The new variant is aimed at making it more appealing for the urban customers.

The Mahindra XUV500 Automatic variant has been launched finally. Priced at INR 15.36 lakh (ex-showroom), the new variant will take on the Hyundai Creta 1.6 diesel automatic which has been enjoying strong response since launch.

Built at an investment of INR 58 crore, the XUV500’s automatic gearbox is a 6-speed unit sourced from Aisin. The 2.2-litre mHawk turbo diesel engine continues to dish out 140 bhp and 330 Nm of torque. There is a strong chance that the new 6 speed AT will be seen on board other Mahindra vehicles in the future.

The equipment level of the automatic variant correspond to the respective W8, and W10 trims on offer currently. Yes, XUV500 automatic will be on offer with two trims and three variants – W8 FWD, W10 FWD, and W10 AWD. Price ranges from INR 15.36 lakh to INR 17.37 lakh. What is the rating of this car in crash test analysis?

Some people were speculating that engine will be tweaked to produce 170+ bhp in automatic variant. Not seeing the power bump is a bit disappointing. That could have been a differentiator for the top end spec.

Ohk…then its safety features are complementary to its overall body strength. Glad to know this.
