Mahindra XUV500 SUV arrived in India in September 2011 and was a runaway success. XUV500 grabbed a fair share of attention in the Indian car market. It was launched at a price far lower than other SUVs in its category and it was this fact along with its enhanced performance and luxury fittings that made it a best seller. Mahindra is now celebrating the first anniversary of XUV500. In this one year, Mahindra has delivered 35,000 XUV500 SUV’s and already have booking for 14,000 units more.
M&M are now poised to launch this SUV in advanced global markets and it is here that the XUV500 will be put to the ultimate test. The XUV 500 is already launched in South African car market where it sells between 100 and 150 units per month. It has also been launched in Australia and Italy while Chile markets are on the cards. Sales targets in these four countries are being set at approximately 500 units per month which should eventually increase to 1000 to 1200 units.
Necessary modifications were necessary on the XUV500 to cater to international needs. Adaptations were made where auto emission was concerned while left hand drives were ensured for sale in Italy. M&M increased output to 4000 units earlier this year from 3000 units to take care of exports while output will gradually be increased to about 5000 units per month. Mahindra XUV500 is a global vehicle designed for international markers and hence it is important that these see favor among buyers in these markets.

(M&M), a part of the US $ 15.4 billion Mahindra Group, announced the successful completion of one year of its cheetah-inspired XUV500 model, with 35,000+ vehicles on Indian roads. Launched in end-September 2011, the XUV500 was designed entirely in-house at Mahindra’s world class research and development facility called Mahindra Research Valley at Chennai, and has, since launch, set a benchmark of its own.
The XUV500 has had one of the most overwhelming responses to a new car launch in recent times and continues to have bookings of 14,000+ vehicles as of end September 2012. The XUV500 enjoys a market share of 60% in the high-end SUV segment. Having received a phenomenal response in India, and also in Australia and South Africa, the XUV500 is poised to make its mark in Europe & other international markets. The company has already ramped up its production capacity to 5,000 units per month to meet rising demand. The All Wheel Drive (AWD) model of the XUV500 is now also available for bookings.
