Mahindra working on a new platform: XUV500 Sportz SE spied

Mahindra and Mahindra, a leading player in the automotive industry in India, is aiming to become one of the top global manufacturers by 2024. It is now revealed that under this aim, the company’s new facility in the US, called Mahindra North American Technical Centre, is working on a new four-wheeler platform.

Mahindra XUV500 special edition 1 headlightsNot only in the US, Mahindra has been actively penetrating in new countries each year. Today, they are present in over 100 countries. The new platform is being designed for global markets but it is yet not clear as to on which vehicle or in which segment these new platforms will be making their way. Mahindra North American Technical Center in Michigan was inaugurated earlier this month on May 13. Apart from staff, it employs a team of over 40 engineers. These engineers are already at work on new products from Mahindra, reveals Autocar India.

Mahindra is currently working on new engines, new platforms and new facelifts of existing cars. The next 3 years will see Mahindra launch many new products in the Indian auto industry which will help them compete with the new-age SUVs like Renault Duster, Ford EcoSport, and Nissan Terrano. Mahindra is also working in association with their South Korean company, SsangYong to produce more powerful and efficient engines.

Mahindra XUV500 special edition 4 sideSpeaking about the new XUV500 Sportz edition, it features no changes in performance as compared to the existing variant. But it does feature some graphical changes, like the stickers over its body you can see in images. Expect this new variant to be offered on the top of the line W8 variant with a price bump of about Rs 20,000. Launch will take place in the coming weeks.
