Mahindra XUV500 SUV to be launched in Australia, Chile and Italy

After making waves in the Indian auto sector, Mahindra XUV500 Global SUV is now set to sail to foreign shores. Mahindra and Mahindra are planning on exporting the XUV500 to Italy, Australia and Chile. XUV500 is ideal for operations in these markets and hence the company will be making necessary adaptations to the current lineup before exports commence. Alterations in auto emissions and modifications to left hand drive, where Italy is concerned, need to be undertaken prior to launch in these markets.

Such was the demand in domestic markets that M&M had to reduce their concentration on exports. The company is now ready to increase output of XUV500 SUV to 4,000 units starting this month as compared to 3,000 units previously produced. Mahindra aims to achieve XUV500 production target of 5,000 units monthly in the not too distant future. M&M currently supplies XUV500 to South African markets and are getting geared up to undertake extensive exports to other international markets.

Mahindra XUV is available in India for an on road price from Rs.12,62,000 to Rs.16,14,000. It is an SUV par excellence where looks, price and brand value is concerned. It has been in great demand within the country and it is sure to see similar success once it is shipped overseas.

Mr Ruzbeh Irani, Chief Executive, International Operations (Automotive & Farm Equipment sectors), Mahindra & Mahindra said, “XUV is a global vehicle designed for international markets, it is important that we supply to international markets. We plan to go ahead with our international launches of XUV. Italy and Australia are planned shortly. These are vehicles adapted to the needs of these markets. We are evaluating timing of launches in various markets – Chile and Australia are our priority. We will assess the overall capacity and domestic demand to decide on the launch timing.”
