The entry level Mahindra XUV500 W4 variant has been given a silent upgrade in the form of a 6-inch monochrome infotainment display. The display unit which is derived from the W6 variant replaces a smaller display.
The upgraded infotainment system is equipped with USB, Bluetooth and iPod connectivity in addition to CD player. The higher W8 and W10 variants get 7-inch color touchscreen with added functions such as reverse parking camera and navigation.
The upgraded W4 variant continues to be sold at INR 11.50 lakhs (ex-showroom, Mumbai), thereby enhancing its value for money quotient by a bit. The Mahindra XUV500 received a significant upgrade last year which saw the introduction of a new W10 top-end variant with features such as multiple airbags, puddle lamps, daytime running lights, sun-roof and many more. This was followed by the launch of the automatic variant.
Mahindra recently introduced a new 140 PS 1.99-litre diesel variant of its popular SUV in the Delhi NCR to circumvent the Supreme Court’s ban of diesel cars with engine displacement larger than 2.0-litre.
In a related news, the Indian automaker unveiled the XUV Aero coupe crossover concept at the 2016 Auto Expo. The concept previews a premium production model that will have more power and equipment than the XUV500.
