Mahindra XUV500 W6 FWD Automatic (AT) launch price INR 14.29 lakh

Mahindra today introduced its XUV500 W6 FWD Automatic Transmission (AT) variant. Automatic option is now available across four (4) XUV500 variants, W6 FWD, W8 FWD and W10 FWD and AWD. W6 FWD AT comes at a price of Rs.14.29 lakhs (ex-showroom Navi Mumbai).

Mahindra XUV500 2nd gen 6-speed automatic transmission with AWD as an option is a one of its kind offering. Sourced from global supplier AISIN in Japan, driving an automatic transmission is a next level experience.

Vivek Nayer, Chief Marketing Officer, Automotive Division, Mahindra says the automatic transmission for XUV500 has resonated very well with customers since launch in November 2015. Availability of AT across variants and price points increases accessibility to a larger customer base.

Mahindra XUV500 W6 FWD AT features a 2nd gen transmission with torque convertor and a planetary gear-train for improved gear shifts. Gear changes combine manual transmission responsiveness with hassle-free operation of an automatic. Automatic transmission enables dynamic gear shift.

Optimized gear ratios (with 2 overdrive gears) with 6 speed automatic transmission for better fuel efficiency – With 6 gears the XUV500 has a higher number of gear ratios than a conventional 5 speed automatic which are optimized to deliver the best fuel efficiency.

Automatic transmission with AWD is available for XUV500 W10 variant. AWD ensures torque is distributed between all wheels for optimised traction on difficult roads by sensing RPM difference between front and rear wheels.

Intelligent all new transmission adapts to mid and high altitudes for better drivability. Two uphill climbing modes are suited for driving on slopes and ghats.

Automatic gearbox ensures quick acceleration and smooth delivery of torque across all 6 gears. Creep function helps drive in slow moving traffic. XUV500 AT fluid is filled for life to keep cost at a minimum.
