2018 Mahindra XUV700 4×4 SUV India launch on 9th Oct – Rivals Toyota Fortuner

Mahindra and Mahindra, leading SUV makers in India, had showcased the SsangYong Reston SUV at the 2018 Auto expo earlier this year. But, it was not wearing SsangYong badge, but a Mahindra badge. Now, this full-sized 7 seater luxury 4×4 SUV is all set to be launched in India.

Reports suggest it will be called XUV700, as it will sit above the XUV500 in the company line-up. XUV500 is the most expensive car in the company line-up as of now. But that will change with the launch of XUV700 on 9th October.

New Mahindra XUV700 will boast of a rugged exterior design with a signature tooth grille with the Mahindra emblem positioned in the center, sleek headlamps with LED DRLs, a massive bumper and horizontal fog lamps. A black skid plate and massive air intakes add to its imposing stance.

Sturdy roof rails and new alloy wheels will also be among its exterior features. In terms of dimensions, the Mahindra XUV700 will stand 4,850mm in length, 1,960mm in width and 1,825mm in height. It will get a wheelbase measuring 2,865mm and kerb weight of 2,095 kgs.

Cabin comforts and technology will include a 360 degree camera for parking assist, sunroof, large storage boot, premium leather upholstered seats and a large infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. The multispoke steering wheel will get steering mounted controls along with driver assistance technologies.

Mahindra XUV700 is expected to be powered by a 2.2. liter petrol and 2.2 liter diesel engine. The 2.2 liter petrol engine will be capable of 220 bhp power and 225 Nm torque while the diesel engine will offer 185 bhp power and 420 Nm torque. Both engines will be mated to 7 speed automatic unit sourced from Mercedes Benz. The diesel engine is expected to return around 15 kmpl fuel efficiency.

Entering a premium SUV segment, currently commanded by the likes of the Toyota Fortuner, the new Mahindra XUV700 will gain an edge over its rivals in terms of pricing which could start from Rs 20 lakhs.
