Mahindra Auto is preparing to launch a major update to one of its best-selling models. We’re talking about the XUV700 facelift, which will be renamed XUV7XO bringing it in line with the company’s newer naming scheme. Ahead of January 5th global debut, more spy shots of XUV7XO have leaked, showing its exterior and interior details. Let’s take a closer look.
New Mahindra XUV7XO AX9L Spied
Ahead of its January 5th global debut, Mahindra XUV7XO has been spied again. XUV7XO is a new name for the XUV700 facelift, which is long overdue. When launched, Mahindra XUV7XO will take on the likes of Tata Harrier and Safari which recently got a Petrol engine and MG Hector and Hector Plus, which recently got a minor facelift with a major price drop.

So, competition has heated up quite a bit for XUV7XO and it has to deliver. Mahindra has not only updated the name of its monocoque mid-size SUV, but has updated the trim hierarchy as well, introducing a new AX9L top-spec trim for the first time. It is likely to spawn an AX9 trim below it too.
Currently, XUV700 tops out at AX7L and the new trim hierarchy has been confirmed by these new spy shots. This test mule was also camouflaged, but some design elements like the new grille, headlight housing shape and an outline of its new front and rear bumpers. LED tail lights looks like they are shared with recently launched XEV 9S.

One can also expect to see a new set of alloy wheels with XUV7XO, while the overall side silhouette of XUV700 will be carried over as is. There will be a major update to XUV7XO’s interior and these spy shots show a lot of the details.

Major Interior Update
For starters, Mahindra XUV7XO will come with a new interior colour theme with a dual-tone effect for a premium appeal. Colours used for this new interior theme appear to be Brown and Beige consisting of premium leatherette materials. Considering rear seats also get perforation, one can expect rear ventilated seats like XEV 9S.

The main highlight of Mahindra XUV7XO includes a Triple Screen setup consisting of three high-res 12.3-inch screens housed in one wide cluster. There will be a new steering wheel with an illuminated logo, premium Harman Kardon audio system, an auto-dimming IRVM, rear window blinds, electric boss mode, panoramic sunroof, Level-2+ ADAS suite, powered tailgate and much more.

Powering XUV7XO will be the same duo of engines. These include a 2.0L Turbo Petrol engine with up to 200 PS and a 2.2L Turbo Diesel engines with up to 185 PS, mated to either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. The recently spied AX9L test mule is also a Diesel AT 4WD variant, so 4WD is retained as well. More details will follow on 5th January, 2026.
