Mahindra’s new sub 4m SUV spied – Rivals Tata Nexon, Maruti Brezza

Mahindra and Mahindra, leading SUV makers in the country, are soon to launch the new Mahindra S201 compact sub 4 meter SUV that has been spied testing.

The S201 is based on the same platform as SsangYong Tivoli, modified to cater to demands of the India buyer and in a sub 4 meter category to take advantage of tax cuts. It will also borrow its interior design from the Tivoli and some features from the XUV500.

2019 Mahindra S201, as it is called as on date, will sport interiors that come in with personalized options. On board features will include automatic climate controls, keyless entry, automatic cruise control, a sun roof, automatic wipers, reversing camera and automatic headlamps.

Interior spy shots also reveal that it features a touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto with safety features of dual airbags, ABS and EBD along with ISOFIX child seat anchor points. Features borrowed from the XUV500 include static bending lamps, tyre pressure monitoring system and voice guidance.

Though the Mahindra S201 borrows heavily from the SsangYong Tivoli, the two do not share engine specifications. The SsangYong Tivoli gets its power via 1.6 liter engines. Mahindra S201 is expected to get a 1.2 liter, 3 cylinder petrol engineand 1.5 liter, 3 cylinder diesel engine developing 100 PS.

Though no pricing details are announced as on date, the new Mahindra S201 could fall in the same price bracket as its competitors, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon, Ford EcoSport and Honda WR-V, priced from INR 7-10 lakhs.
