Renault Kwid effect – Maruti Alto 800 and Hyundai Eon get hefty discounts

Maruti Alto 800 discounts

INR 35,000 is a significant discount for a model which has a base price of INR 2.56 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi).

The Renault Kwid‘s introductory launch price of INR 2.57 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi) has clearly unsettled the rival car makers as evident from their huge marketing push during the festive season. Market leader Maruti Alto 800 is being offered with discounts of up to INR 35,000 while the Hyundai Eon enjoys a discount of up to INR 37,000.

While its usual for automakers to offer extensive benefits including cash discounts for their products during the festive season to boost sales, a INR 35,000 discount on a top selling car that has a starting price of INR 2.56 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi) stands out. The Alto still continues to be the country’s best selling car by a fair margin but the Kwid’s 25,000+ bookings in less than a month has certainly mounted pressure on the Maruti hatchback like never before.

Hyundai Eon new 1.0 litre Kappa engine 04 side

Hyundai Eon too is offered with hefty discounts of up to INR 37,000.

The Renault Kwid, with its SUV-like design, spacious interior and first-in-class features have clearly managed to evoke interest in budget car buyers. The French automaker’s challenge would be to cover the entire country with enough number of sales and service touch points.
