Maruti Baleno, the new premium hatchback which will be launched in India on 26th of October, has been officially revealed in India. Based on a new lightweight platform, the Baleno tip the scales at 890 kg for the petrol variant and 960 kg for the diesel variant. This means that the Baleno is lighter than the smaller and cheaper Swift.
In India, Maruti Baleno will be offered in two engine options, and four trims. The petrol engine option is in the form of 1.2 liter K Series four cylinder engine. This engine generates 83.1 bhp and 115 Nm torque. The diesel engine option is in the form of a 1.3 liter four cylinder engine, generating 73.9 bhp and 190 Nm torque.
As standard, both engine options get a five speed manual transmission, while the petrol engine also gets a CVT automatic gearbox.
The new platform, together with new design concept, which Maruti likes to call as Liquid Flow, has resulted in the petrol Baleno achieving a mileage of 21.4 kmpl, and the diesel Baleno achieving 27.39 kmpl (best in the segment).
Feature-wise, Maruti Baleno will be a loaded car. It will get 16 inch alloys wrapped around 195 section Apollo tyres, LEDs, projector headlamps, colour TFT screen for MID, touchscreen with Apple CarPlay (first car in India), Airbags, ABS, EBD,
