Maruti Baleno LED DRL shines in new spyshots

Suzuki’s new global premium hatchback, Baleno is all set to debut at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show next week. But before that, the car has been spied spied once again. Unlike last time, when only the exteriors were spied, this time the car’s interiors have also been spied.

To be produced from Maruti Suzuki India plant in Manesar, will be offered in a choice of petrol and diesel engines. The variant you see in the images here is a top-end petrol variant. Top-end because it features alloys and projector headlamps with LED strip and petrol because the tachometer redlines at 6,500 rpm.

India launch of the Baleno is scheduled to take place by November this year. Once launched, expect Maruti to equip the for-India Baleno with 1.2-liter K-Series petrol and 1.3-liter DDiS diesel. On the European spec variant, Suzuki has confirmed a new 1.0l BoosterJet petrol engine.

Maruti Baleno LED DRL can be clearly seen in the first photo. The centre photo reveals speedometer, MID and Tachometer while the third image reveals SmartPlay touchscreen system.

External features will include chrome door handles with keyless entry, turn indicators on ORVMs and rear spoiler. It also gets projector headlights, LED daytime running lights, fog lamps and 16” alloy wheels. Interiors will be sporty with a combination of Blue and Red backlights on centre dash buttons and steering mounted controls. It also gets the new SmartPlay touchscreen entertainment system, automatic climate control, MID (Multi information display) and dual front airbags.

Riding on a new lightweight platform, the new Maruti YRA (internal codename) premium hatchback will be seen with . It will be positioned above the Swift, in the company line-up and will compete with the likes of Honda Jazz, Hyundai Elite i20 and Volkswagen Polo. Expect price to start in the range of INR 5.5 – 6 lakh.

In India, Maruti YRA will be the second product after the S-Cross to be sold through Maruti NEXA premium dealerships.
