The Maruti Baleno premium hatchback is all set to be launched today and you can watch all the action live through the official webcast. The Hyundai i20 rival will be made available exclusively through the upmarket Nexa retail outlets.
While the export-spec car gets a new 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, the domestic version makes do with engines that are familiar. The petrol engine is the 1.2-litre K-Series four-cylinder unit which produces 84 PS and 115 Nm of torque, and comes mated either to a 5-speed manual or a CVT.
The diesel engine is the aging 1.3-litre four-cylinder DDiS 190 Fiat-sourced (MultiJet) mill which is available in its least powerful 75 PS guise. The motor is paired to a 5-speed manual transmission. Expect the ARAI mileage figure to exceed 25 kmpl.
