To be launched in India on 26th October, Maruti Suzuki continues to test their upcoming offering, the Baleno hatchback. New Maruti Baleno spy video was recorded while the car was testing on the roads around Gurgaon. It gives us a fair idea about the size of the car in relativity to other cars on our roads.
For example, in the video you can see Maruti Baleno from the side, while it is on the move and overtaking the likes of Maruti DZire, Maruti Ertiga, Maruti Eeco, Maruti Alto, Tata Indica, Chevrolet Beat, etc. Surprisingly, it looks relatively longer than all the cars mentioned above. It also has a much larger road presence than them. See for yourself in the video below.
Once launched, Maruti Baleno will be priced in such a way that it will sit above the Swift (and Dzire), but below the Ciaz. Engine options on offer with the India-spec Baleno will include one petrol and one diesel engine option. These will be in the form of 1.2 liter K Series four cylinder engine generating 84 PS and a 1.3 liter DDiS diesel four cylinder generating 90 PS. These will be mated with manual transmission as standard, but the petrol engine will also get a CVT option.
The all-new Boosterjet 1.0 liter engine generating 110 PS will not be on offer for India, as it is only for the export markets. This is rather surprising as India is where the car will be sold the most, India is where the car will be manufactured, but India is where their latest engine will not be on offer.
To be sold through their state of the art Nexa dealerships, Maruti Baleno will compete with the likes of top-end versions of Hyundai Elite i20, Volkswagen Polo GT, Fiat Punto Evo, and Hodna Jazz.
