With the bookings of Maruti Baleno now being accepted (booking amount is INR 25,000) at their NEXA dealerships across the country, Maruti Suzuki has also teased the new Baleno for the first time on the Nexa website.
To be launched in India on 16th October, Maruti Baleno is expected to be priced from INR 5.5 lakh. It will be offered in a choice of seven colours, two engine options, two transmission options, and four trims.
The two engine options are same as the one’s which are seen on Maruti Suzuki Swift – 1.2 liter petrol four cylinder tuned to deliver 84 PS / 115 Nm and a 1.3 liter diesel four cylinder tuned to deliver 75 PS / 190 Nm. The latter is expected to be offered with the company’s new SHVS technology, which was seen on board the new Ciaz.
To be manufactured exclusively at Maruti’s plant in Manesar, Harana, the Baleno is a global car. From India, the Baleno will be exported to Europe, and many countries in Asia, including Japan.
In India, it will rival with the likes of Hyundai Elite i20, Volkswagen Polo, and Honda Jazz. In international markets, in addition to the three above, it will also rival with Renault Clio, Seat Leon and the likes.
Interestingly, Baleno will get a new 1.0l three cylinder 110PS motor for international markets. In India, we will not be getting this option.
