Maruti Brezza CNG has finally been launched in India – It becomes the first sub 4m SUV to get factory fitted CNG option
Indian auto industry’s undisputed leader in CNG segment, Maruti Suzuki has the largest portfolio of factory-fitted CNG cars. Maruti rivals in CNG space are primarily Hyundai and Tata Motors, who have stepped-up focus on CNG in recent years. Maruti is ahead in the game, as it has consistently expanded its CNG portfolio. Last year in October, a new milestone was achieved when CNG option was launched for Nexa cars Baleno and XL6.
Maruti Brezza CNG Launched – Prices, Bookings Open
Next in line to get CNG option is the Brezza SUV. Maruti had showcased Brezza CNG at the 2023 Auto Expo, and today official launch has been announced. It will take on upcoming CNG versions of Tata Nexon and Kia Sonet. As of now, none of the sub-4-meter SUVs offer CNG. Apart from Nexon and Sonet, it is unlikely that other SUVs will be getting CNG option anytime soon. Other popular sub-4-meter SUVs include Hyundai Venue, Mahindra XUV300, Nissan Magnite and Renault Kiger.
Brezza CNG goes beyond conventions, as it will be offered across all trims. Till now, it has been a trend to offer CNG option with base and mid-spec variants. That’s done for a reason, primarily to reduce acquisition cost. CNG variants are priced higher than respective petrol variants, which is why offering CNG option with base and mid-spec trims helps keep a check on pricing.
Prices of the new Maruti Brezza CNG LXI starts from Rs 9.14 lakh. Brezza VXI CNG is Rs 10.5 lakh, ZXI CNG is Rs 11.9 lakh and top of the line ZXI CNG dual tone is Rs 12.05 lakh. All prices are ex-sh. Only manual transmission is on offer. Brezza CNG Matte blue colour which was on display at Auto Expo has not been launched.

At this stage, it is also worth mentioning that in Maruti Suzuki Arena, S-CNG models account for 24% of overall sales. And CNG sales for hot-selling models such as the Ertiga and WagonR account for as high as 57% and 41% of total model sales, respectively. Moreover, with the Government’s initiatives aimed at the proliferation of CNG pumps across the nation, these numbers are likely to see a surge in the coming years.”
New Brezza CNG engine, features
Brezza CNG will be using the K15C Smart Hybrid 1.5-litre petrol motor. This is the same unit, as in use with Ertiga and XL6 CNG. When running on petrol, the motor generates 100 PS of max power and 136 Nm of peak torque. When running on CNG, this motor delivers 87.8 PS power and 121.5 Nm torque. In CNG mode, mileage claim stands at 25.51 km/kg.
As all Brezza trims get CNG option, the full range of features will be accessible to users. Some key highlights include ARKAMYS premium sound system with Surround Sense, 9-inch SmartPlay Pro+ touchscreen infotainment system, OTA updates, electric sunroof, cruise control, Type A and C USB charging at rear, wireless charging at front and cooled glove box. A range of connectivity features will be available via Suzuki Connect platform.
