Maruti Brezza has been the best selling SUV in India for a very long time. The car which was generating sales in the region of 15,000 a month, has managed to register sales of only 5,302 units in July 2019. With stocks piling at dealerships, Brezza is now being sold at huge discounts.
For the first time since launch, Maruti Brezza is being offered at a discount / benefits of Rs 1 lakh. This includes Rs 50,000 cash discount. Rs 20,000 exchange offer, free insurance. In addition to this, Maruti is now giving a free 5 yr warranty on the Brezza.
In fact, Maruti is offering free 5 year warranty on all their diesel cars which are still powered by the old BS4 1.3 liter MultiJet engine which is sourced from Fiat. The offer is not valid on Maruti 1.5 diesel or their petrol cars.
One of the major reason behind the decline in sales of Maruti Brezza is the arrival of new rivals in the form of Hyundai Venue and Mahindra XUV300. Both rivals were launched this year, and have successfully eaten into the sales of Brezza.
Unlike Brezza, which is only offered in diesel engine – Venue and XUV300 are also offered in petrol engine option. This gives the duo an edge over Brezza. On top of that, being modern and new, Venue and XUV300 come packed with more features and technology.
This has resulted in Hyundai Venue replacing Maruti Brezza as the best selling sub 4 meter SUV in India. Maruti Brezza is has slipped to the 2nd spot, while XUV300 has taken the 3rd spot, pushing Tata Nexon to the 4th spot.
Another reason for discount is that Maruti Brezza diesel will be discontinued by end of this year. It will be replaced by Brezza petrol variant with BS6 engine. Maruti has decided not to upgrade their diesel engines to BS6, which means that from 1st April 2020, Maruti will not sell a single diesel car in India.
Launch of Brezza petrol will bring the entry price point lower by about Rs 50k-75k. This will allow Maruti to rival the new Venue and XUV300 effectively – thus bring a boost in Brezza sales.
