Tata Nexon registered sales of 4,608 units for the month of October 2018. For the same month, Ford registered sales of 3,957 units – which is 651 units lesser than Nexon’s sales figure. But on top of both these cars – is the Maruti Brezza – which registered sales of 15,832 units.
Maruti Brezza sales for Oct 2018 is almost twice the combined total of Nexon and EcoSport. This is the highest ever monthly sales reported by Maruti Brezza in 2018. And the surprising fact is that the SUV is only offered with diesel engine option. There is no petrol option on offer as of now. Petrol variant of Brezza is expected to be launched by Q1 2019.
Maruti Suzuki India limited in planning on launch of a petrol variant to the Brezza compact SUV. This new petrol offering comes at a time when rivals to the Brezza, such as the Ford EcoSport, Honda WR-V and the Tata Nexon all get petrol engines. It also comes at a time when petrol variants have been seeing added demand in the country.
Maruti Brezza with its petrol engine offering is slated to be launched in early 2019. It is currently powered by a 1.3 liter DDiS diesel engine offering 89 bhp power and 200Nm torque offering fuel efficiency of 24.3 kmpl. However, though a decent performer, buyers are still eager for a petrol engine variant of the compact SUV.
Maruti Suzuki Brezza petrol will continue to be on sale via Maruti Arena dealership outlets and will be offered in variants such as LXI, LXI (O), VXI, VXI (O), ZXI and ZXI (O). It will see no change in dimensions, colors or features as is seen on its diesel engine counterpart. It will be seen with features such as touchscreen infotainment system, automatic climate controls, projector headlamps, LED DRLs and alloy wheels. In terms of safety it will receive dual airbags, ABS, EBD, ISOFIX child seat mounts, reverse parking sensors and reverse parking camera.
The new 1.5 liter K15 petrol engine planned for introduction on the Maruti Suzuki Brezza, is the same unit which we have already seen on the new Ciaz. This engine offers 103 bhp power and 138 Nm torque mated to a 5 speed manual. Reports suggest that this engine will offer better mileage on the Brezza as compared to the Ford EcoSport and Tata Nexon.
The compact SUV with its petrol engine could come in at a lower price as compared to its diesel engine counterpart. As on date the Brezza diesel variants are priced from Rs 7.28-9.95 lakhs. The Brezza petrol could fall within the price range from Rs 6.5-9 lakhs.
