The month of August 2018 once again saw sales of Ford EcoSport being lesser than that of rivals Tata Nexon and Maruti Brezza. Ford EcoSport sold the least of the three, at 4,435 cars while Tata Nexon sold 4,499 cars and Maruti Brezza sold almost three times of both the rivals, registering 13,271 units.
Maruti Brezza is only offered with diesel engine, while the other two are offered with petrol and diesel engine option. Brezza comes with manual as well as AMT option and is priced from Rs 7.73 lakhs and goes all the way to Rs 10.58 lakhs.
Tata Nexon on the other hand, is priced from Rs 6.29 lakhs for the petrol variant and Rs 7.33 lakhs for the diesel variant. Its top end petrol variant is priced at Rs 9.73 lakhs while top end diesel is priced at Rs 10.7 lakhs. Recently Tata Motors launched limited edition variant of Nexon called Kraz. It celebrates the first anniversary of Nexon in India.
Ford EcoSport, the costliest of both Nexon and Brezza, is priced from Rs 7.82 lakhs for the petrol trim and Rs 8.42 lakhs for the diesel. Its top end petrol costs Rs 11.37 lakhs and top end diesel costs 11.89 lakhs. All prices above are ex-showroom, Delhi.
Race in the compact SUV segment is set to get even more exciting in the coming months as more cars are set to be launched. One of them is Mahindra XUV300, which is based on the international spec SsangYong Tivoli. It was recently spied on test along with Maruti Brezza in Chennai. Mahindra has confirmed launch is by end of this year.
Another car which will enter the sub 4 meter space soon is the Hyundai Carlino SUV. It has been spied on test in India. The baby Creta SUV will sit below the Creta, but above the i20 in the company line-up. It will be offered with new petrol 1.0 liter turbo engine and a new 1.5 liter diesel engine.
