Maruti car sales Oct 2018 – 1.38 lakh cars sold at 1.5% growth

For the month of October 2018, Maruti Suzuki India posted total sales of 146,766 units (including exports). This when compared to same month last year, is a growth of 0.2%. Sales during Oct 2017 stood at 146,446 units. These are not retail sales. These are cars dispatched by the company to their dealers.

In the domestic market, Maruti Suzuki India sold 138,100 cars in Oct 2018. This is a marginal 1.5% increase as compared to 136,000 units sold in Oct 2017. Exports declined by 17% in Oct 2018 as Maruti exported 8,666 cars last month as against 10,446 cars exported in Oct 2017.

Speaking about segment wise sales of Maruti, it was once again the Compact segment which lead in numbers. This segment includes cars like Swift, Celerio, Ignis, Baleno, Dzire. Total sales registered by all these cars combined for Oct 2018 stands at 64,789. This is a 3.7% increase as against Oct 2017 when company sold 62,480 cars in this segment.

Next big segment is the Mini segment which includes the Alto and WagonR range. For Oct 2018, this segment sold 32,835 cars as against 32,490 cars sold in Oct 2017. This is a 1.1% increase. Below is the details sales report of Maruti Suzuki for Oct 2018.

Other strong performer for Maruti is the utility segment which includes S-Cross, Vitara Brezza, Ertiga, Gypsy. This segment saw sales of 20,764 units as against 23,382 units. Surprisingly, sales of Maruti Ciaz have declined for the month to 3,892 units as against 4,107 units. This in spite of the fact Maruti just launched the new Ciaz.

This month, Maruti will launch the new Ertiga MPV which is expected to result in added sales. New Ertiga is bigger and wider than current Ertiga. It will be offered in the same engine options as seen on the new Ciaz.
